Project background

Colonist is the free-to-play online version of the popular boardgame Catan.

I love this game and wanted to help speed up the development process of the cities & knights expansion which they were developing at the time.

The project is built with node.js in the backend and pixi.js, a 2D WebGL renderer which I also used for my One Dollar Message project in the frontend. I supported with the development of the cities & knights expansion - the most popular version of the game - and created two new maps Volcano and Black Forest on top of that. Both maps are in the top three most played.

If you like boardgames, and you haven't tried colonist, be sure to give it a try! Especially during covid, this was a great way to stay connected with friends!
